Get Out and Play: Best Wellesley Playgrounds

There’s no time like July to get out and enjoy playtime in Wellesley. Even with access to tablets, video games and other 2015 technology, kids like nothing more than playing in the fresh air. Boost their vitamin D levels and kick up the fun factor by taking them to these area playgrounds:

  • Warren Playground
  • John D. Hardy School Playground
  • Katherine Lee Bates Elementary School Playground

If you’re the parent or caretaker of children in varying age groups, Warren Playground is the perfect playtime destination. With a large variety of equipment, Warren offers something appropriate for children ranging from toddlers to bigger kids. Fussy moms needn’t worry, either; the spot is clean and provides plenty of shade for hot July days. Whether cooling off with a juice box and snack, ascending the mini climbing wall or whizzing down the tubular slide, your little (and older!) ones will love you for bringing them to this 2015 kiddie hot spot. From foot races to dog shows, you’ll also find fun events for the whole family.

Good, old-fashioned fun is always in order — even in 2015. The playground at Hardy School offers old-school equipment and lots of seating for picnics or quick breaks. Tire swings and a jungle gym provide as much fun for reminiscing parents as for the kids playing on this classic equipment. And with a dozen slides to choose from, youngsters will have no shortage of good times — and with less waiting time than at most playgrounds.

If you’ve never taken the kids to the playground at Bates Elementary School, you’re in for a treat. Spend a July day here, and they’ll be hooked for life. With two playgrounds and fun public wall art, it’s a pleasant addition to any Wellesley family’s 2015 playground roster. Rope- and rock-climbing, basketball, swinging, sliding and other activities will keep your children happy and busy for hours. On-site baseball diamonds mean parents of Bates School students can bring the other little ones along for a little leisure time while their siblings are on the field.
